(this article also appears at my "Traditional Symbols page") Throughout the various
training I have had in Western Reiki and in several Japanese
styles,
I have always found the symbol energies to feel pretty much the same
from
teacher to teacher. The difference for the 4th symbol came in a
person experience that I write about on my Reiki 3 class symbol
page and have now added as another Threshold Anecdote.
It relates to a Reiki 3 student unintentionally and spontaneously
connecting
with Usui Sensei in class and transmitting a shift to this energy to
all
of us present.
Another major exception happened in a conversation with my Gendai Reiki Ho teacher, Hiroshi Doi-sensei, in a restaurant here in Vancouver in 2002, with Hyakuten Inamoto-sensei translating (my Komyo Reiki Kai teacher). I am not sure how we got on the topic, but Doi-sensei began to write down the names of the first 3 symbols used in the old society in Japan. These are not the kotodama but the Japanese reference names, like how we may use the term "Power Symbol, or in Japan they might use "Number 1". Anyway, I had already discovered a couple years earlier that Doi-sensei often doesn't realise that when he uses a different ceremony, he may transmit a different Reiki energy; and that when he thinks of a different name, he may do the same as well. He seems to unconsciously tie the energies to these actions or words that he received at the time they were presented. Actually, most be people tend to do this when they think of Reiki ceremonies or symbols.
So it was that when Doi-sensei
began to
draw the URR Gakkai reference names on the back of a business card for me, he
was
radiating the associated energy for each of the first 3 symbols he
experienced
when he learned of these names. As he wrote the name for the
first
symbol energy, instead of sensing the usual focused ball of energy in
my
palm, the ball expanded about 10 times in size to surround my entire
hand.
Still stunned by this, as he wrote the second name, I felt a sudden
powerful
piercing into my third eye area in my forehead - it actually hurt - and
this was followed by a wave of energy flowing down my body. This
too was far greater than any experience I had previously had with this
energy. Finally he wrote the 3rd name and this sent a wave of
energy
through me about 25% greater than that I had experienced before.
It is my guess that these energies were those that Doi-sensei had experienced during his conversations about them with the late Koyama-sensei, the former head of the URR Gakkai and a lady who had practiced Reiki for 72 years. Perhaps her contact and receiving Reiju from some of the original students of Usui Sensei contributed as well to her ability to flow these energies so strongly. Note, that Doi-sensei does not resonate the same energies in his Gendai Reiki Ho classes, but most likely he is resonating those he received in his Western style training, since he uses different reference names in those class - that of Power-Up, Harmony and Absentee. I should explain that with all my work in channeling Guides and energies since 1995, I found I had developed the ability to duplicate energies that were either demonstrated or applied to me. I guess it's much like reproducing a song. So after Doi-sensei returned to Japan in October 2002, I began to try out these revised energies on my students. The very first student I did this with was also clairvoyant. She began to describe the exact same sensations I had experienced with these energies from Mr. Doi. So I decided at that point to continue to use the same names I had for several years (Focus, Harmony, Connection) but would now resonate the energies as I had experienced them with Doi-sensei. I do this now in all my Reiki classes and healing work. It actually took me some time before I could comfortably attune students to the revised Harmony energy as it would recreate the original piercing sensation in my forehead. |
